Daniel Castro, Director of the Center for Data Innovation, participated in the AI Insight Forum, the bipartisan policy dialogue that Senator Schumer is leading to create a roadmap for Congressional action and consensus on AI. He argued that policymakers should be careful not to overreact to fears about how AI will impact privacy and rush to regulate the technology since history shows many of today’s concerns will fade over time. He also noted that policymakers should avoid imposing liability on online services that use AI when nearly identical services do not have liability as doing so would chill innovation.
