Tracking Temporary Migration in Senegal

Researchers from Trinity College Dublin have created a dataset of mobile phone records from Senegal, covering 2013 to 2015, to track short-term internal migration across the country. The dataset captures how people moved across 150 towns and rural areas every two weeks and includes flows of people leaving, arriving, or staying in each area. The dataset covers a quarter of Senegal’s adult population and offers a granular national view of temporary migration, capturing how people moved in response to seasonal work, drought, or family obligations.
