Researchers at the University of Alberta have released ClimateAF, a high-resolution public database of historical and projected climate data for Africa spanning from 1901 through to the end of 21st century. The dataset combines weather station records, traditional interpolation, and deep neural networks to model local climate patterns like orographic rainfall and rain shadows. It provides detailed climate maps for both the past and future at the same high resolution, allowing users to directly compare how conditions have changed, and how they may continue to shift
