The U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has released five 3D seismic datasets from Alaska’s Beaufort Sea, an offshore area north of the state. The data comes from seismic surveys conducted by private industry operations in the 1990s and provides detailed images of the rock layers and structures beneath the seafloor, covering 232 square miles. These images help identify geological features, sediment patterns, and areas that may hold potential natural gas resources.
