The United Kingdom’s Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs (Defra) has published its National Dataset List (NDL) on the UK’s open data portal to give the public a look at the important data sets that the agency owns. The NDL lists both public and nonpublic data sets that Defra has deemed nationally important. While Defra will not make all of these data sets public because of legal and national security reasons, the agency hopes the NDL will help inform businesses and the public about what data the agency hopes to publish in the future.
