Comments to the NTIA on the Benefits, Challenges, and Potential Roles for the Government in Fostering Advancement of the Internet of Things

The National Telecommunication and Information Administration (NTIA) has requested comments on the benefits, challenges, and potential roles for the government in fostering advancement of the Internet of Things. NTIA is seeking input on a comprehensive list of questions related to challenges and opportunities presented by the Internet of Things, including industrial and economic impact, consumer protection, technical considerations, and regulation, as well as ways in which the government can spur the development and deployment of the technology. The Center for Data Innovation has filed comments describing the Internet of Things’ substantial social and economic benefits, identifying barriers to the growth of the technology, and suggesting a number of actions the government should take to maximize the benefits the Internet of Things can offer the public and private sectors.
