Cataloging Russian Troll Tweets

by Joshua New

NBC News has published a database of over 200,000 tweets Twitter identified as coming from Russian troll accounts during the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Twitter identified and removed thousands of accounts linked to the Russian Internet Research Agency attempting to influence the U.S. election by spreading disinformation and inflammatory content, and it has warned approximately 1.4 million users that they may have engaged with these accounts. NBC News’ database contains many of these tweets, which Twitter removes from public view when it deletes an account.
