Shaping Competition Policy in the Era of Digitisation

The Center for Data Innovation has submitted comments to the European Commission in response to its call for contributions on future challenges of digitisation for competition policy. In these comments, the Center argues that the collection of large amounts of data alone does not present a threat to competition and shifts in competition policy that would treat it as such would negatively impact data-driven innovation. Moreover, large companies, particularly those offering online platforms, enable many innovations to scale and offer consumers important benefits.
