In his new book, Reprogramming the American Dream, Microsoft’s chief technology officer, Kevin Scott, argues that AI can positively revolutionize the economy for all workers. Scott, a native of a rural town in Virginia, asserts that policymakers should not believe that individuals in rural areas need protection from technological advances. Instead, Scott argues lawmakers should prioritize policies, such as rural broadband and programs that develop worker’s digital skills, that help AI create jobs for all members of society, including those living in rural areas.
