Volvo has created Cirrus, a dataset of LiDAR vehicle scanning patterns (laser technology that uses light to measure distances between cars), corresponding camera images, and annotations, to help advance research and development of algorithms for safe self-driving technology. Cirrus includes 6,285 pairs of scanning patterns and camera images annotated along eight object categories, including categories such as large vehicle, pedestrian, bicycle, and animal.
