Researchers at ETH Zürich, the University of Konstanz in Germany, and the University of Essex in the United Kingdom have created a dataset tracking the territories of countries around the world. The dataset consists of the borders and capitals of independent states and dependent territories from 1886 to 2019. Researchers can use the dataset to determine the extent of interstate conflicts through history.
