The Hong Kong Democracy Council, a U.S.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to the pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong, has created a dataset tracking political prisoners in Hong Kong. The dataset contains information on 964 political prisoners sentenced to prison or held in custody from June 9, 2019, the start of mass protests in response to an extradition bill, to March 11, 2022. It includes information on prisoners’ age, arrest date, arrest location, offenses, and sentence, when available. According to the dataset, unlawful assembly was the most frequent offense for which a defendant received a prison sentence.
