The Civic Mapping Initiative, in partnership with Seldin/Haring-Smith Foundation based in Delaware, have created a dataset to map community and technical colleges in the federal Postsecondary Education Participant Systems (PEPS). Researchers applied two criteria to identify colleges: the predominant degree awarded variable from the Department of Education’s College Scorecard and the Carnegie classification, the nation’s leading framework for categorizing U.S. higher education institutions. This approach produced 3,652 observations of community and technical colleges in PEPS.
