Documenting Food Safety Recalls

New York-based data journalist Adrian Nesta has created a dataset that contains up-to-date information on food safety recalls that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) have issued. The dataset automatically updates as the FDA and USDA issue new recalls of food products that violate established food safety standards. For each recall, the dataset indicates the notice’s title; the product description; the company or brand name; the recall type and reason; the impacted states; and the corresponding risk level.
