Detecting Deepfakes

by David Kertai

Microsoft has partnered with Northwestern University and the non‑profit organization Witness to create a dataset of AI-generated and manipulated images, audio, and video designed to improve deepfake detection. The collection includes altered news clips, public figures, and other content that reflects the types of media people encounter online. The project helps researchers train detection tools that can keep pace with rapidly evolving deepfake techniques.
