Researchers at the University of California, Santa Barbara have created a high-resolution global rainfall dataset to improve precipitation monitoring worldwide. The dataset combines satellite observations with ground weather station measurements to produce near-real-time rainfall estimates with greater accuracy than earlier versions. It helps track droughts and extreme rainfall, strengthening early-warning systems for food security and disaster response.
