The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has released a dataset tracking AI inventions. The dataset consists of over 13.2 million patents and pre-grant publications that reference AI technologies or their components, such as machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, speech, knowledge processing, AI hardware, evolutionary computation, or AI planning and control. The USPTO created the dataset with the help of a machine learning system that scanned patent texts and citations to identify mentions of one of these keywords.
