Researchers at Princeton University have created a dataset of elected officials around the world who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, non-binary, gender-non-conforming, queer, or intersex (LGBTQI+) since 1976. The dataset includes the official’s name, country, party affiliation, position, year first elected, and sexual or gender identity. According to the dataset, 1,021 LGBTQI+ individuals have served as elected officials worldwide.
