Climate TRACE, a nonprofit organization dedicated to greenhouse gas emissions research, has created a dataset tracking greenhouse gas emissions from approximately 72,600 individual sources around the world. Researchers used an AI system to analyze data from over 300 satellites, 11,100 sensors, and public and commercial databases, and estimated emissions from individual sources, such as cement factories, oil fields, and cargo ships. The dataset contains country- and sector-level data on emissions from 2015 to 2021. According to the dataset, the 500 biggest emitters caused 14 percent of global emissions in 2021.
