Researchers at the U.S. Geological Survey and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory have created a dataset of large-scale solar energy facilities in the United States. It contains nearly 3,700 facilities in 47 states that operated from 1986 to 2021, and includes information on their solar panel array area, capacity, panel type, and more. Policymakers and researchers can use the dataset to assess solar energy generation in the United States and inform policies for future solar energy projects.
