A team of researchers from the University of Colorado, Boulder has created a new dataset called the Historical Settlement Data Compilation for the United States. This dataset combines information from various sources, including real estate records, land parcels, and satellite images of buildings, to create a detailed picture of how settlements in the United States have grown and changed over the past 200 years. The dataset covers the entire contiguous United States and includes information on land use and building structures up to the year 2021. This new resource will help researchers, urban planners, and policymakers better understand how cities and towns have developed over time and make informed decisions about future urban development.
