Understanding Societal Progress

Researchers at the Leiden University in the Netherlands have compiled a dataset that includes roughly one million data points in 250 metrics that measure social and economic progress beyond traditional economic indicators like GDP across 218 countries. The researchers consolidated data from 1995 to 2015 and grouped the metrics into three categories: wellbeing, inclusion, and sustainability. The dataset can help researchers interested in non-traditional analysis of societal progress conduct interdisciplinary research across regions, countries, and different time periods.
