Researchers at the University of Konstanz in Germany have created a dataset of real-world insect sound recordings called InsectSet459. It includes over 26,000 recordings from hundreds of grasshopper and cicada species, along with detailed information on species identity, location, and recording conditions. The dataset gives researchers the real‑world audio needed to train AI tools, helping them identify insects accurately and track population changes.
