Researchers at Poland’s Forest Research Institute have created a dataset of detailed 3D scans of more than 10,000 trees, called TreeScanPL10K, to advance species identification and forest‑structure analysis. Using ground‑based laser scanners that captured each tree from multiple angles, they recorded precise measurements of trunks, branches, and canopies. The annotated dataset aims to train AI systems that monitor forest health and track changes over time.
