Tracking English Proficiency

by David Kertai

The California Department of Education has released a dataset tracking how many English learners at each school have met the criteria to become proficient in English. The data includes school-level reclassification rates, ELPAC scores from California’s English-language proficiency assessment, and differences across districts and student populations. It aims to help educators and policymakers compare progress and identify schools where students may need support.
