Senate Introduces AI Security Bill

U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Thom Tillis have introduced the Secure Artificial Intelligence Act of 2024, which would create a public database for voluntary reporting of AI security incidents and require federal agencies to develop processes for tracking AI vulnerabilities and promoting secure AI development. The bill also proposes establishing an AI security center within the National Security Agency (NSA) to provide research resources and guidance related to AI security.

Colorado State Senate Passes AI Bill to Target Discrimination

Colorado State Senate passed legislation requiring businesses to disclose to their customers the use of “high-risk” AI, conduct assessments, and to take measures to prevent discrimination.

President Biden Signs New Data Legislation Into Law

President Joe Biden signed the Protecting Americans’ Data from Foreign Adversaries Act of 2024, another legislation regulating the use of personal data for national security, into law on April 24. The bill prohibits data brokers to sell or make available personally identifiable sensitive data of a U.S. individual (i.e., people residing in the United States) to any “foreign adversary” or any entity controlled by a “foreign adversary.”
