Researchers at the University of Barcelona in Spain have created an open archaeological dataset documenting 10,000 years of human activity in the high Pyrenees. The database compiles 124 radiocarbon-dated archaeological samples from 45 sites, revealing how people repeatedly occupied alpine valleys after the last Ice Age. The dataset challenges long-held assumptions that these high-mountain landscapes were inhabited only briefly or seasonally.
