Tracking Countries’ Involvement in the Iran Conflict

The New York Times has created a visual showing how countries are connected to the conflict around Iran by the types of involvement they have had. Using reports of missile strikes, targeted military assets, and troop deployments, it groups countries by their relationship to the conflict—direct combat (yellow), being struck (orange), having assets targeted (red), deploying forces (purple), or other forms of involvement (gray)—and positions them around the central actors. The size of each country reflects its population. The graphic is a snapshot of how widely the conflict has already spread across different forms of engagement.
