Mapping Lung Cancer Risk

by David Kertai

Researchers at the University of Minnesota have created visuals showing where U.S. adults may qualify for low-dose CT scans to screen for lung cancer. The visuals combine smoking rates, demographic information, and smoking history to estimate eligibility by county and population group. The visual highlights White and American Indian men, using darker blue and orange shades to show areas with more people eligible for screening and at greater risk of lung cancer.
