Mapping Frog Species

by David Kertai

The Australian Museum in Sydney has released a visual that maps frog species and their geographic ranges across Australia. The latest version revises ranges for 76 species, adds newly described frogs, and incorporates scientific name changes using nearly 1.5 million observations from FrogID, a program that collects frog recordings from the public. The visual compares known ranges, with blue showing previous records and red marking newly documented areas.
