Tracking Wildlife Crossings

by David Kertai

The nonprofit Wildlife Network has updated its interactive map of existing and planned wildlife crossings across California’s highway network. The visualization combines environmental and transportation data to highlight wildlife‑vehicle collision hotspots, habitat connectivity projects, and areas where roads restrict animal movement. Green marks completed crossings, yellow identifies projects in planning, and red shows crossings currently under construction.
