Researchers at Georgia State University have published a dataset compiled from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), which has taken 70,000 high-resolution images of the sun every day since February 2010. NASA’s SDO mission uses a spacecraft in geosynchronous orbit around the Earth to take pictures of the whole sun in eight different wavelengths. The researchers curated and standardized the large dataset, which is 288 gigabytes when compressed, to make it easier for scientists to quickly access the data.
