IRIN, a news network focusing on humanitarian issues, and Humanitarian Outcomes, a humanitarian consultancy group, have partnered to map every attack on a humanitarian worker from 2000 through May 2015. The visualization pulls data on 1,900 geotagged events of violence against aid workers from Humanitarian Outcomes’ public database on aid worker security, which houses information shared by the United Nations, the Red Cross, and other nongovernmental organizations. The visualization color codes each act of violence, ranging from kidnappings to shootings, summarizes each incident, and allows users to filter each event by country, context, and humanitarian organization affected.
