The McKinsey Global Institute (MGI), the research arm of management consulting firm McKinsey & Company, has developed a series of data visualizations that illustrate gender equality and its effect on national gross domestic product (GDP) to accompany its recent report, “How Advancing Women’s Equality Can Add $12 Trillion to Global Growth.” The visualizations show country-level breakdowns of 15 indicators of gender equality, such as labor-force participation and political representation, compare regional variations in gender equality, and graph how each region’s GDP would improve if countries achieve equal gender participation in the workforce by 2025.
