Reuters has created several data visualizations illustrating the number of individuals attempting to climb mountain peaks in the Himalayas. The visualizations show that a record number of 344 people reached Mount Everest’s summit on May 23, 2019, but also highlight that 21 individuals died on Himalayan peaks in the spring of 2019. In addition, the visualizations show that more climbers have perished attempting to summit some peaks, such as Ngadi Chuli, than have reached the top.
