The Guttmacher Institute, a research organization that works to study and advance sexual and reproductive health rights, has released a dataset tracking the rates of pregnancies, births, and abortions in the United States from 1973 to 2016. The dataset includes national and state-level statistics for pregnancy rates, birth rates, and abortion rates by age-group, which show that beginning in the late 1980s, pregnancy rates for women aged 24 or younger have steadily declined and reached their lowest recorded levels nationally in 2016. In contrast, pregnancies for women aged 35 and older have increased since 1973 and reached historic highs in 2016.
