Map of the United States showing 14 states have at least 50 percent of deaths linked to coronavirus.

The New York Times has released a series of visualizations that show the number of coronavirus deaths linked to residents and employees in U.S. nursing homes and other long-term care facilities. One visualization shows that in 14 states, at least 50 percent of the total number of coronavirus deaths are linked to long-term care facilities. In New Hampshire, 81 percent of the total number of coronavirus deaths are linked to long-term care facilities, the largest share in any state. Another graph illustrates how the median case fatality rate in long-term care facilities is 14 percent higher than the rate nationwide.
