Flowing Data, an online publication that creates data visualizations, has created a series of visualizations depicting what makes people happy. The visualizations use data from HappyDB, a crowdsourced database of 100,000 sentences describing happy moments, to identify and organize common elements of happiness. For example, one visualization shows the frequency of each sentence’s subject, verb, and object, as well as connections between all three sentence elements. The most common happy moments involve mealtimes and sports victories.
