The Washington Post has created a series of visualizations tracking the types of phones U.S. households use. One visualization compares the percentages of households with only wireless phones in each state from 2013 to 2020. States with a low percentage of households with only wireless phones appear as shades of yellow and states with a high percentage appear as shades of blue. According to the visualization, the percent of U.S. households that solely use landlines has dropped from 40 percent in 2003 to less than 2 percent in 2022.
