A data visualization on alcohol consumption and deaths

The Washington Post has created a series of visualizations tracking changes in alcohol consumption in the United States. One visualization shows the rates at which alcohol consumption and alcohol-related deaths increased or decreased from 2018 to 2021. States in which alcohol consumption increased appear as orange circles and states in which consumption decreased appear as blue circles, with the size of each circle demonstrating the magnitude of the increase in alcohol-related deaths. According to the visualizations, alcohol consumption in the United States increased by 6.6 percent from 2018 to 2021.
