The New York Times has created a series of visualizations comparing the ages of countries’ labor forces. One visualization displays the age of each country’s labor force from 1990 to 2050. Blue circles represent countries where at least 25 percent of the population is under the age of 15 and less than 65 percent of the population is of working age, green circles represent countries where at least 65 percent of the population is between the ages of 15 and 64, and yellow circles represent countries where at least 25 percent of the population is 65 years or older. According to the visualization, by 2050, at least 25 percent of labor forces in most of the world’s wealthiest countries will be over the age of 65.
