The Washington Post has created a series of visualizations tracking the jobs assigned to Barbie dolls in the past sixty years. One visualization groups the types of jobs into five categories: the arts and entertainment; business; medicine, science, and engineering; public service (including politics, transportation, and education); and sports. It shows the number of jobs in each category as circles, with the size of the circle representing the number of jobs. According to the visualizations, Barbie’s first occupation was a model; however, she has since held 121 jobs in arts and entertainment, 113 jobs in business jobs, and 100 jobs in politics/public service.
