The U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration has released the first map from its Tropospheric Emissions: Monitoring of Pollution space instrument. It shows hourly concentrations of nitrogen dioxide air pollution at the neighborhood level across North America. Neighborhoods with high levels of nitrogen dioxide pollution appear as shades of purple or black, neighborhoods with moderate levels of pollution appear as shades of yellow or orange, and neighborhoods with little pollution appear as shades of light blue. According to the visualization, high levels of nitrogen dioxide pollution appeared over cities and major highways in the morning and during the second rush hour of the day.

Take a look.
