China’s Tianwen-1 mission, the country’s first Mars exploration project, has released the data it collected to create the most detailed global color image map of Mars. This dataset, developed by researchers the Chinese Academy of Sciences and China’s Lunar Exploration and Space Engineering Center, includes around 14,800 images. The release of this high-resolution dataset provides detailed and true-color information about Mars’ surface, filling a gap in the available data for scientific research and future exploration.
