Germany-based data visualization designer Moritz Stefaner has created a visualization depicting how Google searches for political topics like immigration, tax policy, and inflation have changed in U.S. states compared to the last presidential election year, using data from Google Trends. The visualization above, which mimics the map of the United States, shows how search patterns of the term “immigration” in 2024 compared to 2020, with Washington, D.C. seeing an almost twofold increase.
