Al Jazeera has created a dynamic map tracking more than 11,000 attacks in Sudan since the war began in April 2023. As time progresses, attacks appear on the map—red for those attributed to Sudan’s military government (SAF), yellow for the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, its main rival, and green for other groups, including ethnic militias and rebel factions. A cumulative bar chart below shows the growing share of violence by each actor. The visualization highlights that nearly three-quarters of attacks have occurred in Khartoum, Gezira, and North Darfur, and that the Sudanese military has been responsible for the largest share of recorded violence across the country.
