Researchers at the University of Western Australia have created a visualization identifying where Australia’s underexplored ancient rock basins hold the greatest potential for heavy rare-earth deposits. By combining 21 national geoscience datasets, the team mapped how minerals formed and moved underground, reducing the search area by up to 95 percent. Red shades indicate higher deposit potential, while dark blue and purple show lower likelihood.
