Spanish researchers from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the Technology and Digital Art University Center, and Francisco de Vitoria University have published an open source software tool called BipartGraph that allows users to identify endangered plant species through data visualizations. The tool uses graphs and spatial clustering to visualize an ecosystem’s network of interactions, such as the interactions between pollinators and plants, which can help researchers better understand how species rely on each other and identify species at risk of endangerment. Ecologists can also use the tool to visualize how factors such as rising temperatures or habitat destruction affect a species.
