Business Insider has created a series of visualizations tracking federal policymakers’ ages in the United States. One of the visualizations shows the median age of the U.S. Congress from 1789 to 2022, as well as the 10th, 25th, 75th, and 90th percentiles. According to the visualization, the percentage of members of Congress over the age of 70 increased from 4 percent in 1981 to 23 percent in 2022.
