The Washington Post has created a series of visualizations showing the number and location of people who own cars or have driver’s licenses in the United States. One visualization compares the percentage of people who had driver’s licenses in 1997 with the percentage in 2020 by age group. According to the visualization, the percentage of Americans under the age of 59 with driver’s licenses has decreased since 1997 while the percentage of Americans over the age of 60 with driver’s licenses has increased.
